How to log in and out of Vitalware

To begin working with Vitalware you must first log in with a username and password. You may also need to specify which version of Vitalware to use.

In Vitalware, everything! Access to every aspect of Vitalware is determined by the permissions assigned to an individual user and / or the groups to which the user belongs. Every time you log in to Vitalware all of the permissions assigned to your user are calculated and the system is customised accordingly and you are provided with access to the modules, fields, functionality and more that has been assigned to your user, nothing more nor less. Your username is your key to working with Vitalware.

The Permissions model is explained in detail in the Administration section of the Help.

  1. Double-click the Vitalware shortcut

    -OR-

    Select Start>Programs>KE Vitalware.

    The Vitalware Login box will display.

  2. In the Login box:
    1. Enter the name of the Vitalware server in the Host field.
    2. Enter your username in the user field.
    3. Enter your password in the Password field.
    4. Enter the name of the Vitalware service in the Service field.

      In your institution's implementation of Vitalware, there may be a number of services (there could be a live service and another service for training).

      Note: Your System Administrator will provide you with these login details.

      If you are a member of multiple groups, a group drop list will be added to the Login box:

      Select the groupClosedThe set of access permissions shared by one or more users. you wish to log in as from the group drop list.

      Tip: It is possible to switch groups at any time.

  3. Click OK.

    Tip: Normally you only need to enter your username and password as the other details are unlikely to change and are remembered by Vitalware. If you are the only user to log in at a particular computer, you'll normally only need to enter your password.

    On successful login, the Vitalware Command Centre will display. From the Command Centre you can open one or more modules.

  1. Click Command Centre Exit button in the Command Centre

    Click Close button in the top right corner of the Command Centre.

    If you have made changes to a record and not saved it, the following warning message will display:

    In this case you would click

    • Yes to save the changes and exit Vitalware.
    • No to exit Vitalware without saving the changes.
    • Cancel to return to Vitalware.

All open module windows will close.
