Tool bar

The Tool bar contains buttons for commonly used menu commands. Which buttons are available in the Tool bar will depend on whether you are searching, adding a new record, displaying records or editing a record (see Screen modes for details).

Tip: If you place the cursor over a button in the Tool bar, a tool tip description of the button's action will display:
Tooltip

A greyed out button is unavailable because its function is not currently relevant (for instance, if no changes have been made to a record, the Save and Cancel buttons will be greyed out), or a user does not have access to that operation. Save and Cancel are currently unavailable in this image: Grayed out buttons

Add a new record (with any default values already filled).

Search

Search

Run a search.

Save Record

Save

Save changes made to a record.

Cancel Changes...
Cancel New Record

Cancel button

Cancel changes made to a record / or cancel a new record before any changes are made to it.

Note: If a new record has been added but no changes have been made, the Menu and tool tip labels will display as Cancel New Record ; if a new or existing record has been edited, the labels will display as Cancel Changes.

Previous Search

Previous Search

Return to Search mode, retaining all search values previously entered in fields.

New Search

New Search

Return to Search mode, clearing all search values previously entered in fields.

Discard Current/Selected Record

Discard Records button

Discard the current or selected records from the records returned by your search.

Note: This does not delete the current or selected records.

Sort

Sort button

Sort records according to pre-defined sort criteria (the Sort box displays with a list of pre-defined Sorts and the option to create a new sort).

Reports

Report button

Select a report from a list of pre-defined reports (the Reports box displays with a list of pre-defined Reports and the option to create a new Report).

Spelling

Spelling button

Check the spelling in the current record.

View List

View List

Display records in List View.

View Contact Sheet

View Contact Sheet button

Display records in Contact Sheet View.

View Page

View Page button

Display records in Page View.

View Details

View Details button

Display records in Details View.

First Record

First Record button

Go to the first record in the current list of records.

Previous Record

Previous Record button

Go back one record in the current list of records.

Next Record

Next Record button

Go forward one record in the current list of records.

Last Record

Last Record button

Go to the last record in the current list of records.

Drag Current Record

Drag the current record to attach to a field in the primaryClosedAn attachment is made from one record to another. The record from which the attachment is initiated is the Primary record; the record that is attached is called the Target. module.

Help

What's this?

Activate the What's this Help cursor and then select an object (field, button, label, etc.) in the module window. The Help displays about the object selected.
